We are pleased to announce that the Board Development Agency recently won a tender to provide training to Magna Housing Group's Resident Scrutiny Panel.

The new resident scrutiny panel will be undertaking the Institute of Leadership and Management endorsed Resident Scrutiny Programme. This is an assessed award and aims to get the scrutiny panel hitting the ground running. It is practically based with a series of examples and includes a mock scrutiny role play and explains the co regulatory governance role scrutiny plays.
We were very impressed by the procurement process and feel that this represents the pinnacle of best practice. The resident scrutiny panel was at all times in control of the procurement exercise. The innovation they introduced was to require tenderers as part of their presentation to give a twenty minute training exercise. This enabled the tenants to see the trainer in action and experience the training at first hand.
BDAs Director, Yvonne Atkinson says:" I have not come across it before and recommend that other housing associations consider adopting it where approapriate. It was a throughly enjoyable exercise and the perfect start to a relationship. 13 tenants attended the selection day and this really is a mark of their committment to training and development and their role on the scrutiny panel."
